Cover Reveal: Servance by Haven Cage

Severance
Anticipated release: Spring of 2017
Tag line: What doesn't make you evil, makes you stronger
In Severance, a dark, adult urban fantasy novel from the Faltering Souls series, Neveah has to face the overpowering gravity of her choice to save those she loves while striving for strength to fight her greatest threat—herself.
Nevaeh Richards makes her declaration. Living a life in which she has few possessions, she sacrifices the only thing of worth she has to offer—the precious thing those fiends want the most—all for the slim chance of redeeming the souls of George, the man who raised her, and Gavyn, the Light Celata who holds a piece of her heart.
Her gifts are unfurling now, but so is a fierce, unpredictable beast inside her. While she struggles to keep herself—and the beast—in check, she has to play the part of a Dark Celata and fulfill every wickedly tempting task the evil beings command of her. Each mission she goes on, each time she uses her gifts, the line she toes between the woman she used to be and the monster she reluctantly yearns to become grows thinner.
As Nevaeh deals with her own turmoil, Archard watches the world he's accepted as his own begin to suffer for the mistakes he’s made. The sacred laws which segregate the realms and hinder demons from freely moving among humans are less and less effective with each passing day. He’s failed to keep Nevaeh out of Evil’s clutches, and so the shadows of Hell are creeping through. In an attempt to right his wrongs—and heal the hole in his heart—Archard chases his elusive woman, but every lead that should bring him closer to her only ends with more questions about who she is, where she comes from, and how to save her—if he can save her at all.
Will Nevaeh survive the soul-severing decision she’s made?
Will those who love Nevaeh survive her?

Falter
In FALTER, a dark New Adult/Adult Urban Fantasy novel, Nevaeh Richards thinks she has found a chance to leave her homeless life behind. When the spirit of the only father she knows is wrongfully taken to Hell, Nevaeh is hurled into a world haunted by monstrous demons, rogue Guardian angels, love that is beyond her control, and a soul-threatening choice between the inherent evil inside her and the faltering faith she is struggling to grasp.
Nevaeh and George have lived on the streets as father and daughter since he found her, alone and unconscious, many years ago. When they start a new life employed at Joe's cafe, Nevaeh experiences debilitating visions and frightening apparitions. Adding to the troubling path her life has taken, George suddenly becomes ill and an Animus demon takes his soul hostage in Hell. Unfortunately, the ransom may be more than Nevaeh can afford.
As Nevaeh spirals into this supernatural world, Gavyn—the handsome cafĂ©-owner—tries to convince her that she belongs to a hidden race of people with God-given gifts known as Celatum, and she may be a key player in the Celestial war. However, even after all the otherworldly events she experiences, Nevaeh continues to deny her part in it all.
Meanwhile, Archard—a stranger she feels undeniably bonded to—mysteriously wanders in and out of her life, offering none of the answers she suspects he holds.
Will Nevaeh attain the faith it requires to fulfill her fate as a Celata and take part in the Celestial fight? Or will she give into the darkness that calls to her for the sake of George's soul and damn herself to Hell?
Warning: this novel contains adult language and sexual content. Readers 18 years and older only, please.

Review: Coming Home by Teresa Keefer

Purchase Coming Home: Amazon or Barnes & Noble
Author: +Teresa Keefer
Publisher:  Self-published
Released: February 26, 2013
Official Synopsis:
Newly divorced Maggie Coulter-Stanford returns to her roots in Eastern Tennessee for a new start. Claiming the farm that her grandparents left to her, she is determined to turn the dilapidated piece of property into a guest retreat. As if the work on the farm was not enough for her to worry about, she has to deal with her philandering ex-husband who is in bed with a ruthless real estate developer along with her materialistic and meddlesome mother. Not to mention coming face to face with the man that broke her heart when he left her years earlier. But it's not all as it seems. Will Maggie enjoy her dream of coming home?
My Review:
When I first heard about Teresa Keefer, it was from her daughter.  I had not given it much thought afterwards though.  Months late, I then heard about Teresa from another friend and fellow beta reader who had just finished reading one of Teresa's books and figured it was high time I looked into this indie author to see what she and her books were all about.
Coming Home is mainly set in Tennessee with references to where the main character previously lived.  The main character is a woman, Maggie Coulter-Stanford,  who just divorced her very rich, materialistic, cheating husband.  After the divorce she packed up her things and moved from Chicago to a little farm town in Tennessee where she had inherited her grandparents home and land; full of pastures, a barn, and of course the house which was her favorite place to stay during the summers when she was a child.

As you get into the story you learn more about Maggie, her best friend Dixie, and the local veterinarian/ex-boyfriend Sean.  You find out about the heartbreak and deception that Maggie and her first love, Sean, experienced when they were younger, why at first they blamed one another for it, and then the truth of why the two never made it past the summer they fell in love.

As a beta reader for authors, I pick up on things that some readers would not notice such as grammatical errors, referring to a person, but then coming back with a completely different name later on for said person, or how descriptive and vivid the author is when setting a scene.  As far as the grammatical errors go that does not make or break a star unless there is not understanding any of it because let's face it, every author and book, whether indie or famous authors have grammatical errors in their books. As for the scenes; for the most part the author sets the scenes to the point where you feel as if you are actually there without going overboard!

The only issue  I had with this book and the reason why this is not a five star review was that I felt the author slipped over important parts that needed to be in the book, added things that she never came back around to explain, or rushed through the ending; better known as plot holes which can make or break a good book in my opinion.

However, with all of this being said, would I recommend this read to a book lover?   You betcha!  This book was a wonderful love story with a happy ending!
About the Author:
Teresa Keefer is a self-published author who is a romantic at heart. She has also signed with Soul Mate Publishing for her Vengeance Trilogy.

First-hand experience breathes life into her stories because they are set in places that she has visited. Coming Home is set in the beautiful, peaceful Smoky Mountain area of East Tennessee, which is her favorite place to relax. Blood Vengeance is set in the steamy, seductive New Orleans, a place where she and her daughters visited and to which she hopes to return. We should also watch for locations such as Las Vegas, New York City, Washington D.C. as well as some fictional locations that she has created in her own mind. She says that if she is able to start working on her bucket list soon, there will also be a visit to Ireland and hopefully a story from there too.

Teresa is a lifelong Indiana resident living in a rural community in the east central portion of the state. As a single mother of three daughters, she returned to college as an adult and earned an MBA from Indiana Institute of Technology. Teresa has spent over 25 years in the human resource profession and has often threatened to write a humorous depiction of life in the human resource profession. Oh, the stories she could tell! She has been known to debate political and social issues with passion and generally does not back down, sometimes resorting to dry sarcasm to prove a point. In addition to spending time with her daughters and grandchildren she has a lot of other interests that compete for her time such as cooking, sewing, gardening, crafting, studying spiritualism, and traveling.
I give this book:  ★★★★
