Battling his emotions day in and day out is like a two-ton weight on his shoulders, but is giving in to them worth losing everything—is she worth losing everything?

I’m just a small-town Texas girl who loves her husband, kids and the Dallas Cowboys. I spend most of my free time, what little there is between work and kids, reading almost anything I can get my hands on. I was inspired to start writing on my last birthday after I attended my first author signing event. On a wing and a prayer (and a swift kick in the ass from my best friend), I wrote my first novel. Now, I am hooked on writing and can’t type fast enough for the voices in my head or my best friend.

For the last year and a half, you could sum up my life in one word… disastrous.
One simple phone call was all it took to change my life forever.

If I could go back and do it again, what would I change?

Everything.

It all hurts so much. The pain never ends.

Blood. So much blood.

Cast in a shadow that turns my days dark, and my nights even darker.
Before I can put the pain of the past behind me, I need to fix what’s broken.
The first step is believing it can be done, the second is forgiveness.
But forgiveness doesn’t come easy, least of all for who is to blame.
For every choice, there are consequences.
Some good.
Some bad.
Some simply unforgivable.
One poor choice made me the target of a sociopath.
Laughter turns into tears.
Tears turn into screams.
And once again, I’m reminded just how cruel life can be.
But….
I’ve come to learn after every storm, the sun shines again
And, someone taught me life is only worth living if you smile.
It took almost losing him for me to understand.
What would I change?
Everything, but him!

"Wow. This book is beyond amazing. Believe me, when I say it. Just believe me and read this story. You won’t be disappointed. I’ve read a lot of books about grief and loss but this book is one of the most complete, most amazing books ever. It’d be so easier to say I’m totally speechless. This story totally took my breath away. It was my first book from Heidi Lis, but if I knew she writes with such a power, I’d grabbed her other stories way more earlier. Her writing style is hands down amazing. The way she built up the story…well, let me say my jaw hit the floor, not just once. There were times where I was gasping for air, I just didn’t know what will happen with the characters. I was totally under a spell. I practically couldn’t put it down. (And I really did not put it down.) My heart, that poor thing, was broken into a million pieces. But then came Heidi Lis, and she put the pieces together again. And again. I’m just gonna leave my mumbling here. I can’t form any coherent thoughts. It was not my last book from this author. And it was not the last time I read THIS story. A must-read, people, the biggest must-read of the year. Mark my words." - Reader Review
Heidi grew up in the Midwest, but currently resides with her husband and four children in the Pacific Northwest. Heidi most enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. Between raising her children and obsessing over her favorite reads, she has let the storyteller within herself come to life. With the love and support of her family, she is following her dream while teaching her children how important it is to follow theirs. She prides herself in believing that anything is possible, the first step is believing in yourself. Heidi’s passionate and loving style in which she lives her life comes through in her writing. Her heart has led her down the genre path of a contemporary and suspense romance writer, but she has plans to extend her vision into other genres as well.

Review: Severance (Faltering Souls Book 2) by Haven Cage

Available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble

Author: Haven Cage
Publisher:  Haven Cage, LLC; 1 edition
Released: March 11, 2017
Official Synopsis:
In Severance, a dark, adult urban fantasy novel from the Faltering Souls series, Nevaeh has to face the overpowering gravity of her choice to save those she loves while striving for strength to fight her greatest threat—herself.

Nevaeh Richards makes her declaration. Living a life in which she has few possessions, she sacrifices the only thing of worth she has to offer—what the Dark One wants the most—all for the slim chance of redeeming the souls of George, the man who raised her, and Gavyn, the Light Celata who holds a piece of her heart.

Her gifts are unfurling now, but so is a fierce, unpredictable beast inside her. While she struggles to keep herself—and the beast—in check, she has to play the part of a Dark Celata and fulfill every wickedly tempting task the evil beings command of her. Each mission she goes on, each time she uses her gifts, the line she toes between the woman she used to be and the monster she reluctantly yearns to become grows thinner.

As Nevaeh deals with her own turmoil, Archard watches the world he's accepted as his own begin to suffer for the mistakes he’s made. The sacred laws which segregate the realms and hinder demons from freely moving among humans are less and less effective with each passing day. He’s failed to keep Nevaeh out of Evil’s clutches, and so the shadows of Hell are creeping through. In an attempt to right his wrongs—and heal the hole in his heart—Archard chases his elusive woman, but every lead that should bring him closer to Nevaeh only ends with more questions about who she is, where she comes from, and how to save her—if he can save her at all.

Will Nevaeh survive the soul-severing decision she’s made?

Will those who love Nevaeh survive her?

Warning: This novel contains sexual content and adult language. Readers 18 years and older only. It also contains material that may be a trigger for those affected by physical, sexual, or mental abuse, or the tragic loss of a loved one. Though most readers will not likely be affected, if you suffer from PTSD or are highly sensitive in regards to these types of situations, please do not read.
My Review:
This is book two in the series and it is just as jam pact of thrill, emotions, and passion as the first book, if not more so. The book starts off literally right where the first book ends which is a great refresher if you are not reading them back to back - it pulls you back in and never lets you go until it is finished. I love the fast pace of the events in the book.  There are a few down moments, but Severance is mostly an emotional go, go, go book and a perfect addition to the first book.

As with the first book, Falter, Nevaeh is a strong willed girl who fights for what she believes in.  In book two, Nevaeh is no different.  She tries to save the souls of those that she loves and means the most to her all while trading her soul over to evil.  She puts up one hell of a fight to not let the evil take complete control of her soul, but sometimes the evil was stronger than she was. While Nevaeh is fighting to save her would be father and her friend's souls, Archard, her love, is attempting to save Nevaeh's soul.  It is a battle that is not short lived or easily won.

I would recommend this book and series and cannot wait to see what else Haven Cage has up her sleeve.

About the Author:

Unfortunately, her love for books came later in life and proved to add a healthy challenge during her writing journey.
