Review: Enough by Dawn L. Chiletz

Purchase Enough at Amazon

Author: Dawn L. Chiletz
Publisher:  Dawn L. Chiletz
Released: October 10, 2015

Official Synopsis:

Broken
Scarred
Invisible

My name is Everly. I’m a stay-at-home mom of two beautiful kids. I have a husband who provides for our family, but I don’t think he loves me anymore. Inside I die a little every day.

I am not enough. Not enough of a mother, a wife, a friend, a woman… I’m not enough to get you to stay, to love me or to accept me. There’s a battle I’m fighting. It’s a battle within myself.

I’m a fixer; I help others. I try to make everyone around me happy and whole, yet I haven’t figured out a way to fix myself.

When time and circumstances push me to my breaking point, I’m forced to take a hard look at what I’ve become. A failed marriage, a failed attempt at a career, and a failed attempt at being a mother. I’m not enough to hold any of it.

This is my story. It’s about trying to figure out how to be happy with who I am, how to love myself again, and how to allow others to love me. When a second chance at love is standing in front of me, will I be able to see anything more than my broken reflection in his eyes? Will I be able to rebuild and reinvent myself when everything falls apart? Can I find the love I truly deserve?

Will I ever be enough?

(This book is a standalone)

My Review:

The book starts out in the grocery store.  Normal, basic, everyday life. It was refreshing.  It made me think that it could be something that anyone could relate to instead of some over the top sex scene or futuristic setting.

The book is about the life of Everly Haley; her thoughts and feelings. She is a mother of two.  A woman who doubts herself and everything about her life. The book has many twists and turns.  Throughout the twists and turns she learns so much about herself and the woman that everyone else saw her to be.

Basically, WOW! This book was amazing! I thought it was a little bit predictable, but still an amazing read.  The author has a beautiful message within the book about loving yourself and knowing that you are enough for anyone including yourself. I encourage everyone to pick this book up.  Believe in yourself and know that no matter what... you are enough!

Blog Tour: The Other Woman by Eve Rabi

Genre: Romantic crime & suspense thriller
http://amzn.to/1E3KGa7

Question: A seductress steals your husband, rips apart your family and shatters your dreams.
You:
a) Wish them luck, and walk away with your head held high (because that’s what society expects you to do)?
b) Quietly seethe, but accept that there is just nothing you can do about it (because it easier for everyone if you do nothing)?
c) Dig up dirt on the bitch (because someone like this would undoubtedly have dirt), use it to sabotage their relationship, then sit back with a glass of Pinot Grigio and watch them burn?
Answer: C. Oh, totally C.

Blurb:
Meet Scarlett Smyth. She’s drop-dead gorgeous, has a rocking body and has an above average IQ. She brags that she can ensnare any husband or taken male, and …she often does. She also is ambitious and has a penchant for anything expensive.
When the shrewd and ambitious temptress lays eyes on Bradley Murdoch, she believes she has found her dream man and a ticket to the high life she’s entitled to. There are just two problems:
1) Bradley is married to Rival. Happily at that.
2) They have children. Adorable little girls.
Do those facts deter Scarlett in any way? No, not at all. She is determined to steal Bradley, smoothly replace Rival in his life and show him how to really live life.
In a calculating move, the seductress (she is so good at seduction, she is even penning a book on it) befriends the quiet and unassuming Rival and seduces Bradley.
There’s more: To expedite things, Scarlett engineers a way to wipe Rival out of the picture and sends her away on a “vacation”.
But Scarlett may have underestimated her opponent. When Rival realizes the extent of the betrayal, she decides, even though she lacks Scarlett’s genius IQ, not to turn the other cheek. In fact, she is determined to win back her husband, believing that he is a good man who is simply mistaking lust for love. She believes that someone like Scarlett has to have skeletons in her cupboards and she begins to snoop around.
What Rival doesn’t understand is: no one crosses Scarlett and gets away with it. As a result, the betrayed wife and the other woman collide and results in this romantic, suspense-filled thriller.

Excerpt:
I stare at him, all my fingers threaded through my hair, my mind muddled and trying to make sense of everything.
“This is not happening,” I mutter. “Can’t be happening!” Then I notice Bradley holding her hand. My best friend’s hand. With both of his. It’s happening.
At this point, I should be furious with him, with her, with the entire deception. I should yell at her, hurl abuse, even threaten to kill her. But I’m numb with shock and disbelief. I sink deep into my hospital chair, and fight the urge to rock. “Where…do…I go with the children?”
“Well, that’s been taken care of. They will stay with Scarlett and me. But you can see them –”
I leap to my feet. “No!”
“—whenever you want to.”
“I will not let you take my children, Bradley.”
“Rival, it’s all done.” His voice – he’s using the same tone he uses on our little girls when they’re being unreasonable.
Done?” I feel a stab of panic. “What do you mean by done?”
“Oh, for crying out loud!” Scarlett interrupts, “Rival, the courts –”
“Don’t speak,” I warn, my index finger raised in the air, my eyes fixed on Bradley’s face.
“—have appointed—”
“Don’t SPEAK!” I repeat.
Bradley quickly stands in front of Scarlett, his arms outstretched in a protective gesture.
“Rival, listen: the court have appointed me sole custodian after you were charged with child negligence. All your visits have to be supervised.”
“What!” I blink rapidly. “Supervised visits? Me?”
“Well, Rival,” Scarlett says in an irritated voice, “you’ve a drug habit—”
“Shut UP, Scarlett!” I snarl.
“—and the last thing we want to do is to endanger—”
Everything happens so quickly. One minute I’m asking Scarlett to shut up, the next I have her on the floor, beating her head with the heavy-duty stapler from my doctor’s desk. There’s blood all over the floor and all over me.
Both Bradley and the doctor are unable to pull me off Scarlett and it takes six men in white to pull me off the woman who stole my husband, my children, my life.
“Let me go!” I yell. “I need to speak to my husband!”
They won’t let me. I scream and kick at Scarlett’s rescuers. When they restrain my hands, I bite them – sink my teeth into their forearms, chest and legs. Where I get my strength from, I have no idea, but I am suddenly so strong, it takes nine men, including two security guards in the end, to physically restrain me.
“BRADLEY!” I scream. “Don’t do this to me!”
I get no response from my husband. Frustrated, I spit on the men.
That’s when they place a lace hood over my face, a strait jacket over my body and throw me into a padded cell where no one can hear me scream. That doesn’t stop me from screaming and hurling abuse. But when I start to bang my head against the door, they re-enter the room, surround me, and inject me. The last thing I see before my eyes shut is the image of my husband holding my best friend’s hands. With both of his. Don’t do this to me, Bradley. Please don’t do this to me. Please …

Review: The Nightmare Birds by Amie Irene Winters

Purchase The Nightmare Birds at Amazon and Barnes & Noble
Author: Amie Irene Winters
Publisher:  CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
Released: July 23, 2016
Series: Strange Luck

Official Synopsis:
Only those who possess wild eyes, an impulsive heart, and a wandering spirit hunt for the Theater of Secrets--and once they witness the darkest of magic, they don't return.

It promises to change your life forever--but is the mysterious Theater of Secrets legend or something more? Tasked to answer that very question, Daisy Darling sets out to uncover the truth and is thrown headlong into a life where inexplicably strange and dark things happen nightly. A life of deception and uncertainty. A life in the spotlight as the theater's ringleader.

As Daisy assumes her new role, she not only discovers a surprising connection between herself and the previous ringleader, but also the haunting truth behind the theater's limitless power. Determined to expose the theater and foil its wicked plan, Daisy must first embrace her heritage before she can defeat the dark forces at play.

Mysterious. Dark. Fantastical. Perfect for fans of H.P. Lovecraft and Neil Gaiman. If you love magic, teen fantasy, mythology, occult themes, and dark circuses, then the world of THE STRANGE LUCK SERIES awaits you!

My Review:
Have you ever felt there was something more in this world that you needed to discover?  Have you ever felt so interested and curious about something that you would do anything to understand what it was or the meaning of it?  How about learning someone's story and wanting to do anything in your power to help them out because you cared so deeply for the story?  Well in book II of the Strange Luck series, that is exactly how Daisy Darling feels.

Book II, The Nightmare Birds, pulls you in from the very beginning with a new adventure and a story about a mysterious theater that moves from city to city and country to country.  It starts with a lady coming in to the shop, Strange Luck, that Daisy now runs.  The lady has brought in ideas to sell to the shop and one of the ideas is a book.  The book speaks about the theater and the many amazing things it holds within its walls.  The back story of the book that the woman, Jan, tells Daisy is glorious and peaks Daisy's interest so much so that Jan has convinced her to find the theater.

The book has many twists and turns from moments you wish would last forever to moments that you would just rather forget.  There are secrets and lies, betrayal and trust, as well as budding friendships and death.  Keep in mind that the book is fantasy, so there are surprises around every corner.  There are answers to questions from the first book, but the second book poses new questions as the story unfolds.

If you are looking to get lost in a book that presents you with another option of what the world holds, I would highly recommend The Nightmare Birds.  Be sure that you read book I, Strange Luck, first though as this is definitely not a stand alone.  Book I plays quite the role in the layout of Book II.

The book was well-written, thought out, and put together so well that it receives a 5 star review in my opinion.  I am not sure if the author is planning to continue this series, but from the ending of book II, I do hope there is a third!

Review: Something Borrowed by Eve Dangerfield

Available for purchase at Amazon and Barnes and Noble

Author: Eve Dangerfield
Publisher: Limitless Publishing LLC (February 7, 2017)
Released: February 7, 2017
Official Synopsis:
Going to an eight-day tropical wedding sounds great, right? Wrong… Elle Sahlstrom hates weddings, but she promised her best friend Tory that she will attend her destination ceremony, despite having to endure obnoxious cousins, bad wine, and a phallus-laden bachelorette party. But the worst part is the man sitting next to her on the plane, on his way to the same wedding, guaranteed to be the same insufferable jerk he was years ago. Jackson Proveaux knows Elle hates him with a passion, but it’s that same passion that has him convinced she’s perfect for him… Unfortunately, he made mistakes in the past, involving cocktails, out of control minivans, and a giant misunderstanding that cost him his one and only shot with Elle. The French expatriate sees the wedding as a chance to atone for his sins. He offers to spend a week completely at Elle's mercy, and if she still hates him at the end, he’ll leave her alone forever. A fiery temper, two sets of handcuffs, and copious amounts of tequila are guaranteed to make this situation complicated… Unable to resist a win-win deal—or Jackson—Elle agrees. Their arrangement quickly becomes more complicated than either of them could have anticipated. The grumpy environmentalist never thought the smooth talking playboy would be able to make her laugh, and he didn’t count on the hot-headed beauty dominating him in the bedroom…or that he would actually like it. As the lovers become more entwined in each other’s lives and hearts, one question remains—will their truce survive the wedding, or are they living on borrowed time?

My Review:
Are you looking for hate, lust, frustration, dominance, or love?  Then this book is for you! It has all that and so much more! Author, Eve Dangerfield will take you on one amazing journey between two people that love to hate one another!

The story begins with two best friends talking about one of their weddings that is coming up and the plans she, Tory, has while the other friend, Elle, hates weddings all together. Elle doesn't want anything to do with the wedding - no maid of honor, no bridesmaid dress, not being in charge of the bachelorette party, nothing...she does not even want to go to this wedding.  However, for her best friend she will do anything - which includes flying to an excluded island and singing at the wedding.

Little does Elle know, Tory's fiance's best friend, Jackson, has plans for him and Elle to spend as much time together as possible on the island and goes as far to set up a ridiculous bet with her to prove he is not playing any games this time. Secrets are unfolded, jealousy is as real as ever, and being vulnerable is a reoccurring feeling.

Simply put: it is a love story with a twist.  It will keep you on your toes.  This story will leave you wanting to find out more.

About the Author:

Eve Dangerfield has loved romance novels since she first started swiping her grandmother’s paperbacks. Now she writes her own sexy tales about complex women and gorgeous-but-slightly-tortured men. Eve currently lives in Melbourne with her boy, a bunch of semi-dead plants and a rabbit named Billy. When she's not writing she's usually making a mess.
