Review: The Burden of Trust by Tabitha Dye

Purchase The Burden of Trust on Amazon and Barnes & Noble
Author: Tabitha Dye
Publisher:  CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
Released: April 23, 2014
Official Synopsis:
A love-filled drama about a self-centered, arrogant actor who accidentally falls head over heels for a lesbian with an unknown dark twisted past.
My Review:
The story starts out with one of the main characters, Kate, traveling to New York to see her best friend who had moved from Florida to New York.  While in New York Kate's best friend takes her to a party and that is where Kate meets the most arrogant actor there is, Chris Cody.  Kate, being the girl who takes no crap from anyone, puts Chris in his place a few times through out their "conversation".  When Kate decides she'd had enough, she gets her friend and they leave, but not before Chris tries to get Kate's name. She does not give her name to him, but instead tells the over-confident actor to figure it out for himself.

Kate returns to Florida and before you know it, Chris Cody has found her and shows up on her doorstep.  She was not pleased to see him, but he convinces her that she can help me so he ends up sticking around.  The book goes on to explain more about his life and why he is the way that he is.  As well as more of her life and why she is so closed off and values her privacy more than the average person.

From the small town girl and her group of friends to the famous actor, there are twists around every corner; most of which involve Kate and her secrets.  Chris and Kate become very close with constant bickering and arguing, but it is a lot of what makes up their friendship.  They open up to one another about themselves including Kate telling Chris that she is a lesbian.  This did not bother Chris and much to Kate's surprise he stuck around to be her friend.

I love that this is not your typical love story!  I also like how the characters are written in such a realistic way.  You can actually picture and believe most of the scenarios that occur through out the book.  The book is fast paced; not in the sense that you have to keep going back to see what you missed, but in the sense that there is never a moment in the book where I thought to myself "this could have been removed or was unnecessary".

I gave the book four stars instead of five because of the ending.  I felt as though the ending of the book was not up to par with the rest of the book.  There seemed to be no closure and it left way too many unanswered questions.  To me, it was as if the book just stopped or that the author could not come up with an ending so she just stopped writing.  Other than the ending, the book was amazing and I would recommend to anyone to read!
